KLPos : Dr M resigns as Petronas adviser on December 2, 2013
KUALA LUMPUR – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has reportedly resigned as adviser of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) effective yesterday.
The 88-year-old had tendered his resignation last Friday in a letter addressed to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Umno-owned broadsheet Utusan Malaysia reported in its weekend edition, claiming to have sighted a copy of the letter.
Dr Mahathir felt a need to cut his office hours, the Malay newspaper reported, citing unnamed sources.

When contacted, Dr Mahathir’s press secretary said a press statement on the matter is expected to be issued later today.
At the time of writing, Petronas has yet to respond to The Malay Mail Online’s request for verification.
Malaysia’s longest-serving prime minister of 22 years has had several heart-related ailments in recent years.
He was hospitalised at the National Heart Institute here on November 16 for medical treatment over a reported chest infection and released on November 25.
Dr Mahathir stepped down as prime minister on October 31, 2003 and was succeeded by Tun Abdullah Badawi, but has continued to play an active role in Malaysian politics, business and education.
The Kedah-born is also adviser to now-privatised national car company, Proton Holdings Berhad, which is also now a wholly-owned subsidiary of the DRB-Hicom group, Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), adviser to the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) and Tioman Development Authority (TDA).
It is unclear if he has relinquished any other position.
